SUMMARY:Regional Event: Appropriate Student-Staff Interaction
DESCRIPTION:Target Audience: \nSuperintendents\, Human Resource Administrators\, Risk Managers\, and Principals \nTrainer:\n \nDr. Glenn Lipson\, Making Right Choices \nHow to Register:  \nEmail Kimberly Kennedy at kennedy@ascip.org by February 20th. \nAdditional Information: \nLunch will be provided. \nStaff-student interaction affects learner engagement at many levels.  Student relationships with staff are considered to be central to student engagement and their learning.  Staff-student interaction is a two-way\, dialogic relationship where district staff’s role is to influence\, guide and provide feedback on what the student does.  Furthermore\, effective engagement may come from situations in which the student initiates the interaction. \nDue to the nature of staff-student interaction\, actions by staff members that are inconsistent or in conflict with the values established by the District can harm students\, staff members\, and the District’s operation. \nThis lunch and learn will provide attendees with the knowledge and skills to enhance their ability to MAKE RIGHT CHOICES.  Attendees will learn how to define appropriate boundaries\, identify acceptable and unacceptable behavior\, recognize and respond appropriately to unacceptable behavior\, recognize the early signs of misconduct\, prevent and identify what constitutes student “grooming”.  Special emphasis will be placed on how to break through the culture of denial and how to implement on-going training for administrators and staff. \nThere is no charge to attend this event for ASCIP members or our invited guests. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Regional Event: Field Trip Liability\, Digital Signatures\, Waivers\, & Permission Click
DESCRIPTION:Target Audience: \nRisk Management\, Student/Pupil Services\, Administration Departments; Principals and other district staff involved in experiential learning/field trip planning\, policy\, and management. \nTrainer:\n \nChris Johnson\, CEO of Permission Click \nHow to Register:  \nEmail Kimberly Kennedy at kennedy@ascip.org by March 15th. \nAdditional Information: \nLunch will be provided. \nWe’ve all been there:  The rush of adrenaline and panic when we learn a student was injured during a field trip or district-sponsored excursion.  A flood of questions and activities follow. The list of possible issues is as endless as the list of potential outcomes. \nIn an attempt to control these risks and panic-inducing situations\, district spend thousands of hours and countless resources annually developing and updating policies\, procedures\, and expectations\, with no visibility into whether or not they are being followed.  While well intending\, these policies often add to an ever-increasing teacher workload\, creating bureaucratic inefficiencies\, and additional administrative costs. \nDuring this Lunch and Learn\, we will discuss lessons learned from these experiences and as a group review policies\, processes\, and enforcement tactics that may have alleviated these tricky situations.  Attendees will be active participants in problem solving solutions for their own and other district’s policy and compliance pain points\, learn about industry standards\, and leave with actionable items for implementation within their district. \nThere is no charge to attend this event for ASCIP members or our invited guests. \n
