SUMMARY:ASCIP-NASDTEC Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The NASDTEC Educator Identification Clearinghouse is the national collection point for professional educator discipline actions taken throughout the US. The Clearinghouse maintains a database of all disciplinary actions reported by districts and disseminates this information to all participating ASCIP members who have signed up for this service. \nNASDTEC staff will provide an overview of the Clearinghouse as well as detailed instructions on how to utilize the online platform. Participants will learn how to efficiently check the credentials of certificated applicants during the onboarding process. The Clearinghouse will report employment and address discrepancies\, as well as other red flags that may require further review or clarification. NASDTEC will increase the safety of students since it expands the clearance process to identify certificated employee candidates who may have a history of potentially unsafe practices. It is imperative that Human Resources utilize NASDTEC to foster safe learning environments for all students and staff. \nRSVP at www.ascip.org/2023-0919

SUMMARY:8-Hour Hazardous Materials Awareness/CERS
DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour training is the minimum required under current State law for those employees who must respond to incidents involving the potential or actual release of a toxic or hazardous substance.  This training allows the first responder to gain a basic understanding of the potential risks involved in dealing with such incidents and how they may be resolved in an appropriate and safe manner.  This level of awareness training is not sufficient for actual hands-on cleanup and mitigation of toxic or hazardous releases but will provide information necessary for first responders to use when making decisions to ensure continued personal and environmental safety.  ASCIP’s hazardous materials management and disposal consultant\, IEL Consulting will offer this informative presentation which is intended to assist individuals who are required to respond to release of potentially hazardous materials.  Attendees must be present for the entire program to receive a training certificate. \nLocation:  ASCIP Training Room\, 16550 Bloomfield Avenue\, Cerritos\, 90703 \nLunch will be provided \nPresenter:  Larry Neenan\, IEL Consulting \nwww.ascip.org/2024-0124 \n  \n

SUMMARY:CAARE – Responding to Press and Public When CSA Incidents Occur
DESCRIPTION:During times of crisis\, it is imperative that districts are prepared to respond to questions and concerns while sending a message of safety and support. Most often districts do not have adequate time to develop and prepare the responses brought on by the barrage of press and media requests. When incidents of childhood sexual assault occur\, the impact can be felt by students\, staff and community and requires an astute level of sensitivity and authenticity. This presentation will provide tips\, templates\, and strategies to support district preparedness and response when a crisis occurs. Strategies specifically related to incidents of staff misconduct or other childhood sexual assault incidents will also be covered. \nRSVP Here \nwww.ascip.org/2024-0213 \n

SUMMARY:CAARE - Protecting Students\, Protecting Staff: Understanding Professional Boundaries Morning Session
DESCRIPTION:One of the most critical strategies to protect both students and staff is developing a culture that encourages “professional boundaries.”  This training will provide an overview to assist with defining and clarifying professional boundaries\, identifying grooming and red flag behaviors\, and strategies to reinforce safe learning environments. Tools\, resources\, and innovative programs will also be shared with the audience. APCAP guidelines\, one of the most useful tools\, will assist administrators in effectively addressing inappropriate boundary violations with staff and students. Changing the culture of school districts is critical to protecting staff\, schools\, and students from trauma and liability and this training will demonstrate how to start that process with the implementation of professional boundaries. In-person training is also available for individual districts to request for their leadership meetings/trainings. \nRSVP Here \nwww.ascip.org/2024-0306AM
