SUMMARY:8-Hour Hazardous Materials Awareness/CERS
DESCRIPTION:This 8-hour training is the minimum required under current State law for those employees who must respond to incidents involving the potential or actual release of a toxic or hazardous substance.  This training allows the first responder to gain a basic understanding of the potential risks involved in dealing with such incidents and how they may be resolved in an appropriate and safe manner.  This level of awareness training is not sufficient for actual hands-on cleanup and mitigation of toxic or hazardous releases but will provide information necessary for first responders to use when making decisions to ensure continued personal and environmental safety.  ASCIP’s hazardous materials management and disposal consultant\, IEL Consulting will offer this informative presentation which is intended to assist individuals who are required to respond to release of potentially hazardous materials.  Attendees must be present for the entire program to receive a training certificate. \nLocation:  ASCIP Training Room\, 16550 Bloomfield Avenue\, Cerritos\, 90703 \nPresenter:  Larry Neenan\, IEL Consulting \nRegistration Link \n  \n

SUMMARY:Playing the Game: Easy Planning for Emergency Exercises with Educators
DESCRIPTION:Emergency exercises can be fun but are also demanding on time and resources.  With proper planning exercises can help facilitate change in the agency’s emergency management practices and employees’ attitudes towards training and exercises.  In order to “win people over” to emergency preparedness\, it is important to offer exercise participants a positive and organized experience.  This workshop will provide strategies and tools to be used in designing\, developing\, conducting\, and evaluating table-top\, functional and full-scale exercises with school employees.  The tools provided can be replicated for use in any educational institution and for any type of exercise and will alleviate much of the planning stress. \nLocation:  Hybrid (ASCIP Training Room/Zoom) \nPresenter:  Sherry Colgan Stone\, Ed.D.\, Emergency Preparedness\, Security and Safety Specialist \nRegister at www.ascip.org/2025-0226 \n  \n  \n
